Gold Coast 2018 was another successful event for NDIA SD Chapter STEM Committee and their Robotic Demonstration at Gold Coast. Located at the San Diego Convention Center Downtown, the kids and their robots took up a large section of the exhibit hall for their demonstration and once again both Industry and Government spent a good amount of time in the robotics section meeting with the students and their robots.
The Honorable Thomas B. Modly, Under Secretary of the Navy and Ms. Emily Harman, Director, DON Office of Small Business Programs met with the students and their robots.
The Teams were invited to attend the Gold Coast luncheon and speaker presentations which they thoroughly enjoyed. The students were sat with Industry and Government attendees for lunch to foster conversations with the students about careers in STEM and how robotics is a growing field in both industry and the Department of Defense.
Robotic Teams in attendance included; Kearney High School HammerHeads led by John Driego de Dios, Eastlake High School’s TitanBot led by Joel Foust, FIRST Team Paradox led by Sara Parkes, Meadowbrook Middle Face the Challenge led by Stacey Ganzer, Poway High School First Ceramics/Team Spyder led by Rodger Dohm, Robotics team 4216, Rise of Hephaestus led by Louie Lee, Francis Parker W.
