CRAIG C. MADSEN
Craig Christian Madsen was born in New Haven, Connecticut, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian E. Madsen and grandson of Mrs. Isabelle Dickson Peterson, a former Yeoman(F) USN during World War One. He received a Bachelors Degree in Engineering Operations from Iowa State University and was commissioned in the United States Navy through the NROTC program. He earned his Masters degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. Serving in a variety of ship and shore assignments, his time at sea culminated with as assignment as the Commanding Officer of USS RUSHMORE where he developed and implemented SMARTSHIP technologies and completed various underway periods including an Arabian Gulf Deployment.
Following his Command tour, CAPT Madsen was assigned to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command where he initially served as the Director of the Systems Design/Architecture Branch followed by sequential assignments as Program Manager for Advanced Automated Tactical Communications (PMW 179), Naval Tactical Command Support System (PMW 151) and as the Navy Program Manager for the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI – PMW 164). The latter two positions were major acquisition programs – ACAT-1 level. He attended and graduated from the DSMC Advanced and Executive Program Management Courses, the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School Navy Corporate Business Course, and is a certified Program Manager Level 3 and a member of the Acquisition Professional community. He earned a variety of personal awards and certificates including the Legion of Merit.
Following his Navy career, Craig transitioned into Government Service. After service as the Technical Director in the Office of the Chief Engineer, the SPAWAR Director of Strategic Planning, the Chief of Staff to the Office of the Chief Engineer at SPAWARSYSCOM Headquarters and a temporary assignment as the Program Manager for Naval Enterprise Networks (PMW 205), he was selected and now serves as the SPAWARSYSCOM National Competency Lead for Acquisition and Program Management (SPAWAR 6.0). As a civil servant he has attended the Senior Manager Course/ International Security Studies at the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University and the Senior Managers in Government Course at the Kennedy School at Harvard University. He has earned a variety of awards and recognitions including the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award. He is married to the former Jacqueline Musick of San Diego, CA.
